Kate graduated from Immaculate Heart High School, Hollywood, received her B.S. from the University of California at Santa Cruz and her law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

The State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, has certified her as a Family Law Specialist since 1994.


:: PRACTICE SPECIALTIES ::

I have been an attorney since 1979. My practice is focused on family law, which includes: pre and post dissolution (divorce) actions, custody modifications, pre and post nuptial agreements, domestic partner agreements and dissolutions, and adoptions. I have served the Los Angeles Superior Court as a mediator.

Prospective clients would often tell me: " I do not want to hurt my spouse, I just want what is fair. The divorce can be handled simply." I believe they are right but litigation was not serving that client's need. In fact, the process often aggravated the injury the divorcing person already felt.

When I recognized the limitations of the conventional forms of practice in family law, I sought alternatives. I was trained as a Collaborative Lawyer, first by Chip Rose, J.D. in January 2003, then by Susan Gamache, Ph.D. and Nancy Cameron, LLB in April 2005.

In addition to being a memeber of the State Bar of California, I am a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Pasadena Bar Association, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Los Angeles Collaborative Law Association, CPCal and the International Association of Collaborative Professionals.
